I have tried off and on for several weeks to try and access the Maintenance and Cleaning topics for the AK, but have not been able to figure out how to do it.  I click on the red folder icon and get the following result:  "No Topics Found With The Current Date Filter :: Topics Older Than 3 Months Are Archived".

Can someone tell me how I may access those archived topics?

What I'm trying to find out is how to best clean the gas ports?   I've been using alot of corrosive ammunition.  I have no problem disassembling the main components and cleaning them, but I have not been able to figure out how to clean the ports.

Any help will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Two things have to happen in order to search the archives.
#1. Arfcom staff first have to bring the archive server back online.

#2. Buy team membership (it provides a decent search engine)

I tilt the gun down over the utility sink, pour hot water thru it, then swab it out with Qtips. If a 45deg gas block, they actually fit easily thru the hole.

Do you remove the wood hardware before pouring the water?  Or can one pour carefully enough to avoid getting the wood wet and having it swell?

I just want to make sure I'm understanding the technique correctly.  Thank you for your help.

Pipe cleaners work pretty well.
