So, I just got my new SAR1.. and HATE the plastic grip.. anywhere I can get a wood one? Also how hard is it to put a muzzle break on? Mostly for looks. And is there really any other stuff to put on it? I don't much care for a scope or anything as I like iron sights much more. |

Power custom trigger(RSA}from Sportsmans guide i got my 2 brakes and thread adapter from dynasystems-ltd.com/GunFile/MB.html really good quality, welded the adapter so i change the brakes when i want got the slant for looks & the 74 style for function |
www.ironwooddesigns.com/ If you buy a pistol grip from them, you might as well buy a whole new stock set to match. RotDorn has a formula to match the original Russian finish similar to AK-74s and AKMs of years past.
It's not that difficult to add a slant compensator to give it a real AKM look. Campybob, MRW or RotDorn would be of better assistance for detailed instructions.
The only things I could think of are these: 1. Check front sight for "canting". 2. Refinish rifle with black engine paint or that blueing you can buy in a bottle. 3. Install a new trigger from Power Custom. Go here for more info: linx310.nothingbutguns.com/ |

I would definitely recommend a replacement rear aperture for the SAR-1, especially as you prefer iron sights (I do too.) See this thread on "peep sights": ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=55632 A replacement fire control group (FCG) would also be nice if you have a crappy trigger pull. Red Star Arms is the best, followed by Gordon Tech, then FSE - I went with FSE as I don't want to put too much $$$ into this blaster, and it's perfectly fine for me. If you get a new FCG, get the shepherd's hook replacement from Red Star, it'll save a lot of cussin'. |
