You might want to look at BlackJack's adapter.. It says you need not alter the tang?? http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=390 Fits AK-47, AK-74 and other AK variants with milled receivers CNC machined from 6061 aluminum Matte-black hard coat anodized finish Accepts any standard thread AR-15 type stock No gunsmithing required, does not need upper tang removed ( designed to be used with out lower tang, may not fit some Chinese milled AKs with round stock hole) JJ |

I wouldn't cut it. I'm pretty sure ACE has an external receiver block which just requires the removal of the lower tang by removing rivets. This gives you the option of returning the rifle to full stock at a later time by riveting the lower tang back in. It's your rifle though. If you think ACE will be in business in 30 years to replace a broken stock on a rifle that can last longer go for it. I'd do it to a stamped receiver, though. |

I can't do it. I'm gonna buy a saiga for converison and cut it's tang for an ace folder. I considered doing the Bulgy because I think a folder would look good with that front end. I know theoretically even the upper tang could be welded back. Mak made a good point that I've considered here. Will Ace the company and the folding stock last as long as the life of the reciever? I say no. Down side to a saiga is that I think it's sporter handguard looks decent with a fixed stock but wouldn't look right with a folder. I've done saiga conversions in the past(2).308's & (1)x39 but always left the OEM handguard on. I know it can be done without much fanfare so the HG's will be addressed on this one. A wasr could be done for cheaper in the end, but there's no comparison between one and a properly converted saiga IMO. Thanks for your input. |

I don't want that. Ace also has a folder adapter that doesn't require removal of the upper tang, but it hangs way out and is quite unsightly. The only decent looking one is the one that needs both tangs removed. It'll look great, but once done it would be pretty major but possible to go back.
