I would like to add a flash suppressor to my WASR-10, but it appears as though that the muzzle nut is spot welded to the front site.  Can anyone confirm that is truly what I am seeing, and that is standard on these rifles?  How can I get the muzzle nut off and add the flash suppressor?

Thanks.

I dremeled off the tack weld and took off the muzzle nut on my friends WASR10 and under it were 14x1 LH threads. It only took a few seconds with a cutting wheel. 14x1 brakes and flash suppressors are pretty cheap and plentiful.

I HAVE heard of people taking them off and there being no threads underneath though...

Just go slow with a dremmel.  Use the little cutoff wheel.  You can always take more off, but never put it back on.

I did the same thing to mine. Threads as stated above.

Ditto here, too. Used the cut-off wheel on a recent WASR-10/63 and revealed the LH threads. Took all of 10 minutes. Piece of cake. Just take your time, as stated above.

Basically what everyone says is correct. However I had one that took nearly an hour and I have to clamp on a vise grip to the muzzle nut and smack it with a sledgehammer to break the weld. The other 4 came off in 10 minutes. Next time you may want to take a look at the muzzle nut in addition to your checklist of G2 trigger, canted sights, etc.... to find one that has an easy weld to cut off.
