Hey, since to some degree or another most of us are "kitchen table" gunsmiths, and since we are building these from pieces, (so to speak) are there any tricks to be known to help increase accuracy?

I come the tradition of accurising hunting rifles.  You know, lighten trigger pull and make it crisp if it needs work.  Free floating barrels, glass bedding actions.

Hmm.  Seems like not much if any, of that applies here.  I'm just thinking out loud.

I'm getting ready to start my third build, and was just wondering is all.

An AK is designed for "minute of person" accuracy. They are not intended to be precision weapons. Most will do well to group in the 3 inch range at 100yds. A really good on will do 1.5 to 2 inches at 100yds.  There just isn't much you can do to improve on the accuracy just accept that what they give is what you get.

as posted above, its not the ideal platform for precision.

That doesn't mean you can't find ways to make it better though.
#1.  Make sure the barrel is aligned straight with the receiver when installed.
#2.  Make sure the sites are aligned straight withe the barrel when installed.
#3.  minimize attachments to the barrel such as handguards, site block, gas block, etc...
#4.  Find a stiffer barrel.  If you can.
#5.  Stiffen the receiver
#6.  get an RSA adjustable trigger.

You may allready know all of these.  This is not intended to offend.  Its really just all I can think of.
