How tight should you adjust optics to fit a side rail on an AK??  Should it feel pretty tight sliding a scope on and off before you tighten the scope lever??  Unless I adjust my scope clamp to slide on and off really snug then the lever takes almost no effort at all to fully tighten/loosen it.  Once I make it where it slides on the rail pretty snug then the lever feels like there's some resistance at the end.  I'm just not sure if it should be this tight since it takes a little effort to slide the optic on and off now.  It works fine I'm just wondering if I'm over doing it.

You want a good snug fit but if you can't get it off without fighting with it then it's too tight.  If it takes a little bit of effort to slide it down the rail that's ok.

with the lever open, mine all slide on and off easily.

my guess is that your rail dovtail faces are not quite parallel. you can leave it as it is or stone down the high spots and refinish afterwards with cold black oxide solution.
