I bought my first AK47 last week.  This one is an American Arms import.  The rifle is marked Zastava.  Any information about this rifle would be appreciated....good and bad.  Is this rifle a true Yugo import?

I'm no expert, but I think you have a very nice find in your hands.  American Arms imported the original Yugo rifles as well as Mitchell Arms.  However, AA imported less guns than Mitchell did.

Could you give a little more info?  Is it marked "AK47"? Does it have the bayonet lug (it should)?

Here are some pics.  The serial number is 1xxx. On the receiver is "model AK"
Can anybody provide any information? There was a scope mount on the rifle, which I pulled off for the pictures.

I honestly did not know what the rifle was worth at the time(still not sure.)  I almost passed it up because I had already puchased some other rifles from the fellow.

American Arms were the first importers of the Yugo. They imported mostly fixed stock with a few folders. I assume the pins on each side of the receiver are for the scope mount you took off? I don't have any numbers on AA imports but not a lot were imported. I sold a NIB AA fixed stock for $2200 last year. Your gun would probably bring $1800ish to a Yugo collector. Anything under $1500 is a steal. I still have two AA guns,  a fixed stock and a folder. If you have any specific questions let me know.

Yes, the pins on the side of the receiver are for a scope mount that I took off for the pics.  What time frame did AA import the rifles?  I am guessing that the markings on the barrel are just proof marks?  Thanks for everyone's imput.
