SO...for a 4th of July shoot I took out my "High Standard/Interarms" Tantal to impress a friend of mine.  I go prone to shoot a group and the bolt sticks to the rear on every shot.  WTF!  I discover the end of the spring where it is snipped has opened up a little and hopped up on the guide rod, right in front of the rear notch.  The very tip of the spring where it was cut held back the bolt carrier per shot.  I turned the spring so this cut end was directly on top, clearing the inside of the bolt carrier.

oh, and my trigger pin fell out again.  Once I got the POS put back together and running a little faster than a flintlock, I printed a nice 6 shot 4" group at 200yds.

Anyone else ever have to snip their srping, or keep the snipped end on top?

Waiting for that RSA retainer plate!

It's the little things that ruin a good shooting experience.

My only problem with the recoil spring was parkerizing one which removed a lot of it's power. Good thing they're only a couple of bucks from the 'var.

Dremeled a half a coil off the portion sticking out.  Then red loc-tited that end coil to the back of the guide rod.  We will see.

Got over to your local small family owned Hardware store and buy yourself some "E" clips to retain your trigger and hammer pins. They cost all of $0.03 to $0.07 each. Buy at least 2 for each pin. Bring your pin in with you to so you can get the right size to clip over them. They are located in the screw nut and bolt isle. Take that retaining plate that came with the rifle and put it off to the side.

On your recoil spring, are you missing the retainer on the end of it?

I've got the retainer on the front.  The spring hopps up on the back of the guide rod.

Time to buy a new spring or get out your pliers and crimp it down. Loctite is not going to hold that.

Reading is fundemental.
Snipped end near the top should be fine. May want to still crimp it with some pliers. If it doesn't hold buy a new spring.

Yeah, Thats what I ended up doing.  Along with a thin band of duct tape for extra measure.

The rifle shoots very well for an AK.  Too bad I had to put an extra $22 to get it to stop falling apart and run right.  I'm pretty sure i got all the bugs worked out.

I hate to say it but Wasr's are starting to look better than some of these guns coming out of Atlantic.
