First view for me too.
Looks like it uses the trigger/hammer pin holes and substitutes extended pins. I see no way for this to be as stable as the riveted side rail mount.
" It does not need to be removed for cleaning.." maybe for a basic bore clean, but getting the dust lid off for a more detailed cleaning still looks like the mount has to go in order to lift up the dust cover for removal.

Let us know what optic you want to mount, and we can walk you further.

Im thinkin of mounting a Kobra or some type of red dot sight. I want a sight that allows me to keep both eyes open, and quickly acquire my target with. Is using a red dot sight with both eyes open an arduous task? My eye's are pretty good, seeing as how im 16. I have an SAR-1 with the side mounting plate, if that helps. Also, the sight needs to be durable. Thanks for the help.

www.tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/bstkobra.html

Go here, email Tantal for a current price list (where I bought mine). Hard to find for under $130+shipping, and NOBODY has better service on commie optics. Genuine Russian military tough. I have the EKP-8 2nd gen on my SAR1 plate shoot gun. Get a spare $3 Swiss-made lithium coin battery at Radio Shack for your range box.

Another option, but not at Tantal last I looked, is to spend about $50 more on the PO 3.5x21 optic. Great glass and a field of view that is rated at 12 degrees, and results in about 60ft at 100 yds. Campy, Hbarski and Rot are all happy with theirs.

really fast=kobra
still quick but 3.5x= PO scope
