My ORF PMKMS build was completed recently and arrived at my FFL, but when I went to get it the backround check deal came up as "delayed" and has remained that way for quite some time.

It's the new automated online deal.

The owner says this happens some times and that it can take up to 2-3 days.

What's the deal?

That is why my FFL still does it the old fashioned way via telephone.

Yeah, the thing is supposedly the automated bit accesses the same computer server deal as the people you call do, so if it says delayed this way, then supposedly it would say delayed for the operator as well.

The only difference is that when you call and are delayed, the person at the call center transfers you to the FBI center, and a reviewer will look into the delay, and give a proceed or denial with out waiting.. Ask me how I know....

Isnt it if you get a 'delayed' but they havent given a definate yes or no within either 48 or 72 hours, the dealer can proceed with the transfer?

My friendly neighborhood FFL does the phone call thing too.

Having been delayed on every firearm I have bought, I know this shit. they have 3 bussness days to process you. after three days, if you have not been denied, the FFL can sell it to you. mmk

Same here. It always goes through eventually though.

Ever since I started putting my SSN # on the form, I don't think I've had a problem.

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one to have this happen.

I've gotta get this thing sometime, seeing as how I payed for it and everything.

I'll make sure my FFL knows about the 3 day thing.

The only time I've ever been delayed is because the computer was down. That would be the Colo. Bureau of Investigation computer. Here the dealer calls CBI, who calls NICS and checks state records while waiting on NICS.

But I always added my SSN as I once did a Yahoo search on my name. I came back with something like 68 different people with the same name and another several dozen with a derivative of my first name. I then did my brother-in-law and got only one hit. He's very unique I guess.

But the last couple of guns I felt daring and didn't include my SSN and was approved just as fast.

In some cases adding your SSN may be worthwhile.

My name is Andrew Johnson, so...

I did include the serial though so I don't know what the deal is.

The ORF Polish build is so sweet though!

As much as I love the satin super-black Russian finish, the parkerizing really looks good on an AK.  I went with the "Blark" finish, more or less just to make sure I didn't end up with a really light looking finish.

The weld job on the slant comp and bayo lug just makes ya grin as well.
