Just picked up a used SLR 101S . The seller said about a thousand rds fired. The barrel and bore look mint as does the bolt face and all lugs. I would say almost no mechanical wear!!

The finish looks like it just melted off though. I am ok with it . I felt I got it for a decent price .

From what I have heard and seen here this seams to be there only issue, the finish . I plan on Duracoating the whole rifle anyway . Which isn't a big deal , I am allset up for it .
Is this anything Arsenal might warranty?? Not that I would even send it back..... just curious.

I will say this , I had a SAM 7 a few years back and other then my SAM 7 been bought NIB by me. I don't see a big difference in the rifle .....what is the difference??

Been regreting selling my SAM 7 and now I feel like a got at least the next best thing!!

I will do some before and after pics when I am done refinishing, I will use this as my place mark

I don't know for sure but I seriously doubt Arsenal would warranty the finish. It couldn't hurt to email or call them though. On the other hand the earlier Arsenals, like the 101S you have, were know for having great finishes especially compared to their more recent production rifles. I'm curious what all was done to get that finish off! Can't wait to see some pics

I guess I wouldnt expect them to warranty the finish, just doesnt hurt to ask. Hopefully Iwil try to get some pics up of what it looks like.

Got it home last night and it had normal finish wear and there appeard to be some gook on the top cover.
So I stripped it , cleaned the actoin, bore, barrel etc.....all looked real good. Barrel real shiney, crisp rifling.

I wiped the whole weapon down with CLP inside and out and was surprised at how the finish was looking, alot better!!! Then I got to the top cover, the whole weapon was cleaned and assembled. I figure the top cover is just a wipe down and pop it on. Whatever that crap was on the cover it was impossoble to remove. By the time I was done cover had a big blotch on it and the paint was just fugly and rough.
Long story short, rifle will be Duracaoted asap!!
