| Im looking to trade my BCM/Spikes AR for an AK. Ive got a few other AR's so I want something different. At the moment, Ive got 1 possible trade. Its a SLR 95. I am concerned for a few resons. The first is I dont like the thumbhole stock. If that can be swapped out for a regular AK stock and grip without issue, than no big deal. As long as those parts are available. I saw in a review that only a ironwood stock can be used because the 95 supposedly only has 1 tang and isnt stable. He also said the stock doesnt slide into the reciever as far as a stamped model either. Is this true or was the guy wrong? Also are these issues, if they exist, specific to 95's only or all milled reciever AK's? Some research I did shows these are form the mid-late 90's so they are ban compliant. No bayonet lug, no flash hider/comp, cleaning rod. Stuff that i would want. I think I found the proper parts on k-var but Im not 100% sure of that. Also this being older, Im concerned about the value of it. It looks to be in good shape from th pic I saw of it, but it is an older rifle. |

As far as the tang goes, i think there are a few 95's who do have 2 tangs and if they dont, a few people have welded their own on the bottom. I once had a 95 and i put a regular synthetic stock on it. Yeah it only had one tang but it was still rock solid and never budged after shooting the shit out of it. I never heard of the tang breaking that easily. Only thing is you might be able to bend it very slightly. However most milled AK's have both tangs. Well i just found looking a little more a warsaw length stock for a milled reciever. Its 50 bux alone, 15 for the grip. Saves me some extra money right there.
On another forum they showed me a tang that attaches. Im still looking into it but looks like the 95 will need it. So much work im almost considering not trading. |

Looks pretty good but, you have the wrong plunger pin in your cart.
You need these for that front sight. Plunger and Spring. Retainer Pin This is actually a rivet. Edit; Don't forget about the 922r stuff. |
| If you're going to convert it, why not buy a sam7? The slr-95 also has no optic rail, and it takes work to get converted. If you have the jigs and know-how, it shouldn't be a problem. You need to make sure the cutout is there for the lower tang. If not, it's going to take more milling work. |

Well my delima is I cant buy one right now. My only real option is to trade someone in my current State. There are some issues though, AK's are on the ban list starting Oct 1st. Also background checks in my state are taking 70 days instead of the 7 stated in our law. FFL's are allowed to release but most wont. So this is why i cant buy or even do an out of state transfer at the moment. I dont have time to wait and play the games waiting for the state police. Besides, most FFL's wont transfer anything thats not on their shelves at the moment. If i trade someone i wont get shafted on my rifle, and we can legally transfer after 7 days. We are moving in mid July, in our new state, it looks like theres plenty of AK's. But im not sure how things are going to be, plus im not sure how soon ill have my legal address changed over. Ive never done an out of state move before so I dont know how everythings going to work. I doubt ill have time to mess with firearms lol.
My rifle is a bare bones basic in the form i want to trade it. Complete Bcm 16" lightweight midlength upper group . Spikes lower, spikes lpk, bcm stock components, h2 buffer, and a rra m4 stock. A2 grip, a2 handguards, no rear sight. |
