| Does anybody have any experience with the Attero arms AK mount? I am looking to put one on my Tantal and am looking for reviews. Specifically, I am interested in the the Attero arms mount with white dots for cowitness. Looking for the good, bad and ugly truth. Thanks. |

See this thread
I have Attero Arms Alpha mount with white dot sights and PA Micro green dot. This set up works well for me, although I would prefer a red dot sight that I could turn on/off with a switch. The white dot iron sights are useful for CQB and when on the move; they are easy to acquire quickly. Not good for precision work or shooting at distances beyond 50 meters. |

I'm using one of their mounts with a FastFire II on my WASR-3. I bought it last year, before they started differentiating with the "Alpha" and "Bravo" models, so I'm not sure what may have changed since.
Overall, I think it's an outstanding product. My biggest complaint was the lack of machined posts to match up with the alignment holes on the underside of the optic. I understand this was done to support several different optics, but it resulted in a lot of play while installing the sight and makes it difficult to trust my zero if I take the sight off for a battery change. All the same, once you get it set, everything stays put very solidly. Installation wasn't too bad, and I think they have a better attachment method than MI's similar mount. Judging by the other thread, it looks like they took my suggestion to make the large vertical hole slotted to accomodate variations in trunnion size between different AK's. I'm not entirely sure why they didn't keep the standard AK attachment method with the full-size leaf spring, but oh well. The built-in iron sights are fine, though the rear notch is a little too wide, IMO. I've been thinking about making myself a small plate with a smaller notch and affixing it to the front of the sight somehow. |
Here are some pics of it on my rifle:
I have a PA micro dot on their Bravo Mount with white dots. They co-witness, but it like a 1/8th, not absolute. Easy to install and has kept a good zero. You do have to make sure you get a PA micro dot that does NOT have the kill flash - those wouldn't clear on my AK. Also it can't be the fixed base model (obviously - you can't remove the base to mount to the optic). It does work great with the MD 06 micro dot though. When I mounted my optic there was no play whatsoever once the screws went in, and I'm pretty confident my zero would still be minute of man if removed and replaced. Another thing I like about it are the smooth lines compared to the Strike Industries AK Rear Sight Rail is that the rail sits lower and doesn't screw up the lines of the weapon. My only complaint about the white dot setup is that the white front sight post seems a little dim compared to the rear two dots, but that could be from the hood on my FSP. No regrets with the mount though! Someone on another site did a review as well: link |
