| Does anyone have any experience with the B Square mount? How hard is installation? Will it clear an under folding stock? |

It isn't your only option. Look at the Ultimak. (OK, it is a scout style, but there is a mount that goes by that name.) Also a Yugo side rail should work fine, but requires some creativity for the mounts. A regular side rail could work if you fabricate a spacer to move the rail away from the receiver so that the optic clears the underfolder latch when you are installing it. You couldn't fold the stock with the optic on with that setup though. Also there is the Beryl type rail. ( edit - sorry bad advice, no place to attach the rear on an underfolder, I shouldn't type before my second pot of coffee) dpharms.com/beryl-style-scope-mount-p-230.html |

Side rails are the correct way to mount scopes on an AK, but really not on an underfolder. I added the link to the Beryl rail after your last post. Check that one out, probably your best bet. Oh, crap, never mind. I think the Beryl rail mounts to the screw on the fixed stock trunnion, sorry. |

I bumped this thread so you can see it. Pretty much says the same stuff. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=56&t=100943&page=1 What kind of optic do you want? Magnified or Red dot? edit- Here is the email I sent to Tantal and his reply. It was a long time ago but I think everything still applies. I am considering the purchase of a PK-AS for use on a Zastava M-95A underfolder (5.56mm Nato). Do you sell a side rail mount that would be suitable for use with the underfolder stock? If not, could I fabricate a spacer to move the rail out to allow clearance for the underfolder stock? This rifle has not yet been assembled so I might consider another type of stock if this is a problem. Also, could you please explain the difference between the PK-AS-S and the PK-AS-V. Do they use the same type of mount? It appears that the PK-AS-S places the sight to the left of the bore and the PK-AS-V places the sight directly over the bore (though on an underfolder it would be slightly to the left of the bore due to the thicker mount). Does the PK-AS-S allow the iron sights to be used while installed on the rifle? Which would you recommend for use with the underfolder stock? Thank You The underfolder is not very suitable for a side mounting optics rail. The Russian version for AKMSL and AKMSN was designed to fit only the NSP-3 night vision scope, which has a removable stop plate. It was placed on the rail from the front and then the stop plate was screwed on, not very practical. You can use the MPK2 on your downfolder, it is short enough at the rear to miss all the rivets and the screw locations are good to go. Like you said, you might add a spacer to get it to clear the rear pivot mechanism for use of rear mounted optics. The plate has a cut on the back lower area so optics can be mounted closer to the center of the rail, like the military versions. The PK-AS-S and PK-AS-V will fit the exact same versions of side plates. They will in fact fit all known types of standard rails. Yes, the PK-AS-S allows iron sight use, it is the military version, the PK-AS-V is an over-the-bore civilianized version, the V stands for Vepr, a commonly available civilian AK in Russia. Otherwise they are identical. Maybe this info will help you make a decision, I'm not sure what I would do but the PK-AS-S is my favorite since it is more compact and sits lower. However, the PK-AS-V (or maybe even the PK-AS-S)could be disassembled and a adapter inserted between the body and the mount, to bring it more centered on the rifle. Regards, Tantal |

I guess the Ultimak and the scout mount are your only options. I started to think about the Beryl rail some more and figured that it would be easy enough to fab up a piece out of angle iron that could be welded to the rear block for the back of the rail to attach to. Just a thought. |
