Nobody knows?

On a 8mm metric pin made of carbon steel M6,  the interference fit is .009".

So you're telling me the 8mm pin needs to go into a hole that's 9 thou smaller?

Anyone have the correct answer?

I make mine an equal fit to the thousandth. It works for me.

thanks goku.  so 8mm hole for 8mm pin, and it won't be too loose?

much appreciated.

No, you do not understand, 009" interference means the hole must be .009" smaller than the 8mm pin. You drill the hole undersize and ream it to the noted tolerance. Sorry if I was not clear on the word used.

Not loose, but your headspace will drift forward about a thousandth after firing a few mags.
I always set my headspace tight enough that it won't close on a 'go', but will on a live round.
Then, after pressing in the barrel pin, I press the barrel out that last thousandth or so. That way I don't have to deal with a too-tight chamber

Perhaps this question is best answered elsewhere (if so I'm not finding it) but how do you groove/drill the barrel to accept the barrel pin?  I'm thinking a jig clamped on the front end trunion will help guide the drilling without egging the hole in the trunion too much but have not found clear instructions yet.  Also how do you go about headspacing a new barrel?  I have built several from matching parts kits and the headspace has always checked out.  Now with barrelless kits and non-matching kits this is something that needs a good tutorial.  Anyone got direction on this?

If a person is installing a barrel, they ought to have a barrel press kit.  Which means they already have all the tools they need to drill/ream/etc. for a barrel pin.
