Recently i have decided that i want to buy one of these scope mounts.  The only problem i have is that it completely removes the possibility of a rear sight.  I have thought about this for some time and i was thinking that maybe getting a flip up rear ar15 sight might be a good idea.  I was just wondering if u guys think that it could possibly be done or if there is a better alternative.  Thank you for any feedback

Like the TSR 100, if you forego the elevation dial it may line up right.

If you use the beryl type rail, you will lose the stock irons, as the front sight can not be raised enough to work with any aftermarket rear sights, even the peep sights.

I was going to get a beryl type rail, but then I rear about it shifting and moving during firing, just like other receivercover rails, so I'm back to look for a decent side-mounted rail setup I guess.. Too bad. I really dug the beryl rail's look.

I just mounted a Beryl rail on my Arsenal SAM7A1.  I chose the Beryl because my SAM7 didn't have the side scope rail and I couldn't bring myself to drill up the receiver to install the side rail.
I had an EOTech 552 that was sitting in my safe and I was looking for a home for it (it used to reside on my Bushy M4 but I broke down this year and bought an ACOG).

This afternoon UPS dropped off the Beryl rail and I installed it and immediately headed to the range.  Zeroed the EOTech for 25 yards and fired off a hundred rounds (WOlf HP).  Then I unscrewed the rear dust cover bolt, pulled off the dust cover, stripped then reassembled the rifle.  Fired it again and the zero was still dead on.  Then shot 40 rounds prone unsupported at 25 yards using the Army Alternate Qualification target and got 38 out of 40 (may have gotten 40 out of 40 but I had just finished a No-Fear energy drink right before the UPS guy showed up).  The only weak areas I see are the screw (taking it http://ins219.photobucket.com/albums/cc301/tbm4abc/?action=view¤t=Guns.jpg" border=0 id=img>

Thanks for the feedback ... I'm trying to decide between the Beryl rail and this one:

Also considering this one, the Ultimak stuff looks great but a bit pricey.  Also not sure about a forward mount, anybody use one?

NOOOOOOO!!!! to the dustcover mount in that link. I sold mine for $5 shipped to some guy who did not want me to stir paint with it. Seriously.

Ultimaks are great for dots, but the fwd will eat up much of the fov in a long eye relief mag scope.

on mounting the Williams peep into the rail , i measured the width of the peep
with my calipers then on the rail i layed it out with masking tape , i took a dremel tool and cut my lines into the rail , removed the material(lines) with the dremel and used a flat file to finish any high spots in the rail when i opened it up for the peep sight , when  i had the peep setting flat across into the rail , then i marked the peep and drilled a 8/32 hole into the peep , i then inserted the peep into the rail marked my spot drilled a pilot hole and tapped 8/32 threads into the rail , mounted the peep using a 1/4 inch 8/32 screw . it's a simple mod that anyone can do at home with basic tools .

very interesting. I don't know why they didnt design a rear peep sight in to begin with, like the Krebs unit. Would have made it alot more marketable.
