I found a Blue Ridge Precision AK on a Krink M-97 receiver for sale locally. I can't find much info on them anywhere. The rifle looks nice, anyone have any experience with them? What would a like-new one be worth these days? Dave |

The milled receivered Blue Ridge Precision rifles were fine I believe. But I've heard bad things about Krinks stamped receivers being out of spec. When the milled SLR-100H's (Bulgarian milled receivers, Hungarian parts kits) were built there were 4 builders for Intrac. Gordon Tech, Blue Ridge Precision, OOW(?) and MSC. Gordon Techs were the coveted ones followed by Blue Ridge rifles built by Charles Bratton if I remember correctly. I never heard much about the OOW ones. I never saw a Blue Ridge SLR-100H, myself. There were reports that the MSC and Blue Ridge rifles were occasionally built from worn out kits. Gordon Tech/Jerry Gordon on the other hand only would build on the best of the kits received and would hand select them. I once examined one Gordon Tech rifle and it was much better than the two MSC rifles I had. The two rifles that I had were MSC builds and the Hungarian parts were well worn with some pitting in the barrels but the rifles shot well and looked very well built. Mike of MSC had the worse reputation of the 4 builders but I had no problem selling the two rifles for more than I paid for them. I wish I had kept the best of the two. |
Dave: Buy the rifle only for the value of the parts as a parts kit. The Krinks receiver is not heat treated and will self destruct with use. You will have to rebuild with a new receiver at some point. I have such a rifle and the receiver's ejector and rear portion of the top rails have deformed from live fire use. The Krinks receiver is a very basic design and does not have some of the authentic features seen on currently manufactured U.S. receivers. Harlan NoDak Spud LLC |
