So I just picked up a new Yugo M70 underfolder (with 2 tapco mags, this may be the problem), and I went to go shoot it today...and was severely disappointed. After every single shot I would get a failure to feed. It looked as if the bolt was sitting too high or something because whenever the bolt carrier would try to return to battery it would get stuck on the top of the round it was supposed to be chambering and so it would get stuck half-way open. I would have to manually pull back the bolt carrier and let it slide home in order to chamber a new round. This went on for about 10 rounds...until it got stuck completely. It looks as if the bolt is in battery (more or less), but the bolt carrier is stuck about an inch away from being where it should be. When I try to move it forward it won't budge at all, and when I try and move it back it only moves about a quarter-inch before it gets stuck. The big thing I'm worried about is that there is a round stuck in the chamber. If the bolt got stuck on its way back from firing a round then the round in the chamber is empty. But if it got stuck on its way back to battery then there is a live round stuck in the chamber, which is what worries me.
Does anyone have any idea what the h#ll is wrong with my rifle? I'll try and get a picture up as soon as I can if it'll help. |

So I did get the bolt unstuck with a hammer, and after a bit more experimentation I noticed the bolt is getting stuck on (i think) the trigger. Whenever I pull the bolt back all the way (as in it can't go any further) and release it, it slides back normally, including when I manually feed rounds through it. But if I stop even one centimeter short then when I release the charging handle the whole thing gets stuck where it shows in the pictures.
I'm still not sure though if it's the trigger itself or something else that the bolt is catching on. | Seen that a lot. It's hanging on the hammer. Shoot the shit out of it, after a couple hundred rounds it should quit that. My friend has a WASR that always hangs on the hammer, it's no big deal, he uses it like a bolt-hold-open at the range. If you can pull it all the way back from there and it cycles forward fine, then don't worry about it. |
| Like the others stated, shoot the heck outta it and see if the trigger wears in a little bit. You could try polishing the top corner of the hammer face too, but be careful not to go too far and you will get below the hardened surface and the hammer will wear out quickly. Or better yet just get a good quality FCG from G-tech or RSA. |
