  How does it shoot?  Does the zero stay put after having the dustcover off?

Cool. You never know how long a Tasco will last, but the rest is worth that anyway. The mount securing by rear screws pressing onto the rec is fine with a bit of threadlocker. Leave it on for minor cleanings so you do not have to re-zero every range visit.

And you can look under the rail to use irons when the Tasco inevitably dies

Unfortunately, I couldn't use the rear screws due to it interfering with my recoiling buffer.

That'll work,but I'd be saving my pennies for a PSO 4x24 [400 meter rangefinder]for under 100.00 and on your doorstep in about 2 days from Freedom Optics.It mounts on your existing side mount and retains zero with removal and re-installation.It'll last forever,built like a tank and made for your AK.
