I do not see any reason to not run one if it is still running reliably.  Metal banging into metal is never good for long term.  If reliability is hindered then no.  I run them in my stuff and never misses a beat.

In a properly running gun you shouldn't have metal banging into metal.

If the carrier is hitting the stock block hard, fix the problem.
Check the operating spring and the hammer/trigger spring. Either or both may be weak.
OTOH, placing a piece of plastic in the action guarantees that energy from the carrier will be transferred directly to the stock block with EVERY shot.
