A few pics of the build. Almost time to pick a finish for it.

Build looks excellent so far; *very nice* work on the front handguard furniture.. looks right & tight! But what's up with the missing rivets in the barrel bore?? -L ETA - Oops! Did you break into the cleaning rod channel? Just noticed the filler.. I'm just to the point of installing the rivets in the barrel, wanted to make sure everything functioned correctly first. No, didn't get into the cleaning rod hole, but there was an issue with the lamination of the plys, open areas, so I had to fill the spot. Most if not all but a little bit will sand out. |

Very nice build. I did a pistol build using one of the Centerfiresystems.com's $89.99 kits simply because I could not pass up the kit and then figured I would make it into a pistol. Something really sexy about an AK pistol. Who did your mill work? A member here Pat (Restoreit1) did the mill work. I highly recommend him, excellent work and fast turn around. |

Nevermind, just saw the dates on the pics, that IS fast! Even faster than the dates on the pics show. Others told me maybe, "sometime" in Feb at the earliest. If our new "change" in goverment still allows us to build AK's, I will ask Pat to do the work on my next project as well. |

Hmm... What's with that extra hole?
You might wanna trash that receiver. The "template" had it marked and it got drilled. I'm just going to tig it when I do the rails. The build is pretty much just sitting on the bench with a few pins and rivets to hold it together while everything is dry fit. |

too bad it doesn't work that way. the receiver is contraband the moment that hole is drilled, and rewelding is not an option. Once an MG, always an MG - not my rules - ATF's And in addition to destroying your contraband receiver, you may wish to delete this thread.
|
| yeah, and the definition of a "machinegun" AK receiver is one with a hole drilled in the wrong place. You don't like it, take it up with NFA technology branch. I don't make the rules - but I've been a federally licensed machinegun manufacturer for 9 years and a title 1 manufacturer for 15 years - plenty of time to learn what the rules are. |
