If I buy a Complete ALL MATCHING # Bulgarian AKM-74 Parts kit and a receiver what else do I need for parts to build a AK , on average what does it cost to build one? You will need a new barrel like this. http://armsofamerica.com/us545x39bulgarianmodel6999.aspx Add a new receiver, you can buy one finished, fold it yourself from a flat, or finish a blank. http://www.nodakspud.com/page2.htm (NDS-2 "EZ") http://ak-builder.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29845 http://ak-builder.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30371 There is a building law called 922r it says that a US built gun can not have more than 10 imported parts. The AK has 16 countable parts (15 if no threaded barrel or muzzle brake) this means you will need 6 US made parts. The receiver & barrel are first two of the parts needed now you need to choose 4 more from this parts list. http://www.ak-47.us/AK47_Parts.php When I started building, builds were cheap, parts were easy to find, but now it is hard to find the parts needed to complete a good build. If you can find the parts the build will likely cost more than a complete factory built gun. You will come out of the experience with the knowledge of how to up keep or repair your AK if necessary. |
| I have a complete matching G kit and a complete matching never fired Hungarian kit that I had for years and my Nodac receivers has just been shipped. The kits cost $250.00 for both (years ago), the receivers cost $190.00 the Hungarian I'm making into a underfolder and that cost for the underfolder kit from AK-Builder was $90.00. all the tooling from AK-Builder is going to cost $500.00. I haven't added the 922 parts yet and I haven't added the cost to do the finish after the build is done. It's adding up big time but I look at it as a hobby and hobbies cost money. I'm sure you could get by with less. It's a start so do your research and put it all together. Spend some money and have fun. |
