Be gentle. I feel like a 16 year old virgin on my first date asking this. Can anyone tell me what this is? How its done? It looks like fun and I'm sure it will piss off the benchrest shooters at my local range. |

Ah, the weekly bumpfire question....I have seen many people try to explain how to do it. I doubt that many have been able to figure it out with just an explaination alone. Basically it is just using the recoil of the weapon to cycle the trigger action. Takes practice thats all. Here are some videos to give an idea. Word of warning, be prepared to see your ammo budget explode! home.earthlink.net/~autoglassparts/singlebump.wmv www.autoglassparts.com/guns/video/bulgy_bump.wmv |
| I've seen the vids that's what got me all hot and bothered! I think I read someones post about putting things over their [trigger] finger and the ability to 'bump' from the shoulder. Anybody got a thread with some instructions/technique? Going to the range tommorrow to test fire some new AR builds and would really like to try bump firing an AK while I'm there. Which do you think will be more successful - a SAR1 or my preban Maadi? |

If you have fixed the trigger slap on the SAR it should bump fine... The maddi would be the better of the two in my opinion it seems to have a better trigger.. RedStar triggers work wonders also.. The key really is in practice... Be prepaired to blow a couple of hundred rounds until you can master the bump... |

I guess I will tell you......The object is to pull the gun into your trigger finger...your trigger finger stays stiff. From the hip----stiffen index finger and stick through trigger guard to your hip...leave it this way....pull rifle with left hand...takes some practice and finding out where to ground your finger---hip or belt is good...from the shoulder is advanced technique....you do the same but lock your right arm and finger in place and pull rifle against it...... |
AR's bump hard too! Less recoil than AK's but the trigger actions are usually much smoother. Hell, I know a guy that can bump his Garand, only 8 rounds but 30-06! |
Me and a buddy put this to the test with his SAR2 and My SAR1.....The SAR1 was easier first try.. we had to re-think the sar2 and remember that it has less recoil to work with.. but when we got used to the 5.45 it was just as easy... |

Sucess! Bumped with the Sar 1 - took about 2 mags to get the hang of it. The real story was the AR bumping - I have a ZM weapons comp on the barrel and was able to bump a whole 30 rd mag. Wow the cyclic rate was fast! Felt almost like a mac 10. It was much more controllable - I was pounding a stee1 plate about 20in tall by 14in wide at 30, 40 and 50 yards with 3-5 round 'bursts' from the shoulder. Thanks for your help guys, got to go order more ammo.... |
| Just take it easy on them barrels, boyz! I can't wait to try it on my stuff (Carbine, AKM, CAR). I have a lot of extra M193 to blast, but I'll have to be more frugal with the 7.62x39 and .30 Carbine. Our problem around here is finding a place to get away with rockin' without attracting attention. |
The beauty of the AK over all... Don't have to worry about the barrel... If you do happen to melt one down...a cheap replacement can be had.. at little cost.. Honestly I've never seen anyone warp a AK barrel from bump firing.. When the RATPACK was kicking strong having shoots every month.. There is no telling how many thousands of rounds went through AK barrels at them shoots.. Some of them guy like Ali... Are true masters and can go from mag to mag bumping off rounds and never stopping... |
