Here's a site that has good info.  The link is on the lower left menu:

http://www.gunsnet.net/linx310/

Basically:
Brace the barrel with hard wood blocks so nothing moves when you strike it.

Drive the pins out, usually from left to right.

Use a mallet to drive the sight base to the desired position.  Don't hammer on the top of the sight base, and be careful not to bend or distort anything.

Re-drill the two holes for the pins.
Here, the idea is to make new slots in the barrel NOT to drill the base holes out any larger.  I've used a round needle file or a small chain saw file to re-cut the slots without enlarging the holes in the base.  If you use a drill, be careful it doesn't drift and enlarge the holes in the base.

Drive in new pins.  You may be able to use the old ones, or you can make new ones.

I have one, the front sight base was at 11 oclock, but the rifle zero'd with the post centered. I used the method described in the link, and now to zero the rifle the front post has to be almost all the way to one side.

does not you gas hole in the site base get off center with the hole in the barrel  thus fucking everything up i have the same problem but use a acog so no real problem but i looks like shit i will always run a optic on this 20 " upper but i fucking hate to see it look like shit tried shifting the barrel on the upper till it looked great by opening up the barrel notch  got it together looked great but bolt would not close so had to put it back to way it was to get the action to work  and it still looks like shit. so i have to move the site base or replace it with a gas block  i think this what i am going to do . ideas?

Dude: you're talking about an AR-15 - this is the AK forum. We don't have 'uppers' and the gas port is not in the sight base.

I dont know what is funnier that he posted about the AR here or the two that posted afterwards about punctuality and readability not even noticing what he was talking about

I believe the muffler bearing and coniviter valve may need adjusting that little do hickey can blow the seals on vapor chamber gearbox apparatus and cause that aluminum funnel tube to fail in the transmission shifter coil .

I am going to have to disagree with you, I believe the flux capacitor is damaged from only using corrosive ammo

Y'always gotta clean up after that corrosive ammo! Gets all over yer hands and makes 'em all sticky and fawnky!
