I don't mean to bitch, just want to inform anyone who's intrested in purchasing from Centerfiresystems.com. I placed on order for a 1000rd case of ammo, 42" carrying case, and 4 30rd 7.62 mags (might as well order everything from one place right?) on Sunday March 29. On Wednesday I called to find out if my order was shipped and the tracking number. The lady said she couldn't get that info at the moment and would call me back when she found out. Got no phone call back that day. No call Thursday either, so I call again Friday, tells me the order has been shipped but the "UPS Machine" isn't there and she can't get me the tracking number. So she tells me she'll call me back in an hour or so with the tracking number. No call again. Finaly Monday (a week and one day later) I get my stuff, great. Was never called back like promised, but who cares, I got my stuff now. Open it all up, case is fine, ammo is all fine. Now I get the mags that were just throw in the bottom of the carrying case box. One has a small dent, the other a pretty large dent, but both seem to function ok. Another one's finish is almost completely warn! The really dented mag also has some finish missing. Out of the 4 mags, one is somewhat in decent condition. Now, this would of been fine if it said "VERY USED" on their website, but no where does it say these are even somewhat used mags. Take a look for yourself at the mags fox302.com/index.pl?s=vf&user=VenomXTF&category=AK47&file=DCP_0243.JPG Should I call and complain? I rather not have to spend 5-10 bucks shipping the damn mags back, when I can spend a little more and get good condition mags from else where and keep these crappy overused mags for backup. |

I've bought ammo from Centerfire several times. They certainly do not ship as fast as Ammoman (that's an understatement!) but they are cheap and have been pleasant to deal with (the phone lady I talk to always calls me "Honey"- it's funny how some women are the kind of ladies who I don't mind hearing that from, like her, then there are women who piss me off when they call me that-but, once again, I digress...) to be honest AK mags are so cheap and usually work even when beat up that I wouldn't bother with it, not that you aren't right to be unhappy, but I wonder whether it's worth the effort->whoops didn't read Rotdorn's post-send it back |
| A lot of bitching about CS these days... My experience has always been positive. Ordered two cases of 5.45x39 during their January special. $99.97 per 1k shipped! They took a personal check, didn't hold it, shipped ammo the day the check was received. Ammo arrived promptly and in good shape. Hard to beat. Now I would have been pissed about the misprint on the pso scope, but their ad clearly states on the back prices are subject to change. I just buy selectively from them, usually when they run good ammo sales. |

I had a very bad experience with them. I ordered two Yugo Type 59 SKS rifles (not the 59/66 with grenade launcher) that were advertised in "excellent-like new" condition. What arrived was NRA Good at best, one had heavy pitting on every metal surface, the other was better but the bore was fairly dark. Plus, some of the bluing was gone. Not even CLOSE to an "excellent-like new" rifle. When I called and complained, they just gave me a return number without an explanation, or even a "sorry." In fact, I had to do a bit of bitching to get them to accept the rifle. The worst part was that it took them so long to ship them out that all the other sources for the Yugo M-59's were dried up. I even talked to an owner or manager, I think the name was Shane, and they wouldn't issue a refund for the shipping despite the absolutely crappy condition of the one I returned. I just thought I'd share that in case anyone wants to order from them in the future. I'd rather do business with almost any other vendor. |

2 orders, both filled proptly and merchandise as described. when buying used stuff from ANYONE i always expect the worst or triple-check the actual condition prior to ordering. it's for just that reason that i do no buy much used stuff unless in person. i have found that most resellers mis-grade their used products. |
| i'm starting to believe that s.o.p. nowadays is to send the crappiest merch available in the belief that the vast majority of us won't bitch about it...i know i usually don't. i'll just fume about it and move on or forget to send the shit back and by the time i get around to it, it's too late. centerfire is like that, interordnance (man, don't get me started on them!), sportsmans guide. if it's used or surplus get ready to kvetch! there are exceptions though, ammoman is exceptional and charleys militaria if friendly and delivers what he promises... |
