Got a wild hair last night to change out the front end on the SA85M from 'AK-63' to original. I also have an 'AMD-65' so I was asking myself why I needed two 'AMD'-style set-ups. So, this...

This would require a refinish to match up all the different colors/textures, but I've been wanting to do that too. This would simply be a satin black bake-on coating. A small point, but it does have a cleaning rod, and the sight base does have an indentation for retaining the head of the rod, but it doesn't work very well so I leave the rod off. Hey, I might as well finish the job I started in 1995 with this FEG. |

That is exactly what I was looking for! All the wood is original FEG. The handguards are the originals that came on it and the buttstock and pistol grip came off a pre-ban SA85M. I got the stock here on the EE. The blonde Bulgarian stocks widely available match pretty well but have the groove cut in the sides. The Hungarian wood pistol grip is the same for the AMD and usually are on Gunbroker or here in the EE. Whatever stock you get will probably require some fitting. Be careful how you sand the tenon that goes into the receiver - if you sand it unevenly, the stock will be crooked, and you also don't want it to be too loose. |
