| I recently sold off my Retro AR-15 and found a good deal on an Eotech 511. I was thinking I would build a flat-top AR carbine to put the 511 on. After doing a lot of research on AR prices and features I had almost settled on ordering the parts. Then I though, you know, why don't I just get one of those new Beryl rails from DPH when they come out and put the Eotech on my AK. I like their new rail because you can keep the iron sights, and with the 511 on a QD mount you can just take it off if it fails. I was thinking of turning the cleaning kit tube into a spare battery carrier. Even if I don't like the Eotech on it the rail is still a good accessory to have. I don't really have a use for an AR, if the time comes that I need to have a rifle handy I'm reaching for the AK anyway. I would still buy an AR for a good price, but for now I'll stick with the AK. |
Not new and high speed, bad balance, hard to use the irons when optic is installed. Optic must therefore almost have to be on a quick detachable mount. The beyrl rail is a simple on and off not interfering with the irons when the rail is removed . It also places the optic at a better position for balance and natural acquisition of the reticle. Also if one is using a magnifier it is possible with the Beyrl rail. Not with the ultimak there just isnt enough realistate to have more than one item on the Ultimak. |
