| I think I found a decent red dot mount that will Co-Witness! THought? Opinions? |

Well, I wouldn't exactly say that they're not for sale anymore.
Well, let me rephrase that. They aren't for sale anymore... But supposedly they're working on a new mount for an improved version of that sight. Then again, that has been the story for a while now, and no word on when the new one is to be available. I've never tried one but I like the concept. My only thoughts are that since the gun buying frenzy has subsided a bit, they'll eventually start to reinvest in markets other than the AR in order to generate new product lines and income sources. In other words, maybe they'll eventually get off their ass and make it again. Not sure I'd hold my breath though. |

Yeah, I know what you mean.
If I just absolutely had to have an optic NOW, I'd look elsewhere. But, when and if they ever do come out with a new version I may have to give it a try simply because I like the concept. Then again, someone out there with machine tools and skills? Looks like a business opportunity being neglected to me. |

Yeah, true. The comblock stuff is probably good for what it is designed for. I woulnd't mind having a few of them myself. But the Larue piece fills a niche that the comblock optics don't. It is small and light, and will co-witness with irons. Iit also mounts low so as to not affect your cheek weld. I also prefer the mid-ship mounting location opposed to the ultimak mounts scout position.
To me it is the ideal set-up, if it works well, is durable and holds a zero. When and if the stories pan out I'm in for one based on its merits that set it apart from the other options and not so much based on the price point comparisons. |
| I think it will be difficult to modify it to co-wittness using the Generation II Burris Speed dots. Larue will need to raise the ears of the rear sight higher as the Speed Dots are now taller. You may be able to compensate by raising the front site post on some AKs but it will be hard to make a universal design. I think Laurue will need to find a smaller red dot sight. |

I didn't realize that since I've never seen a Gen II speed dot. That could be an issue. I still like the basic concept, if a good, reliable, tough, weatherproof optic, of the right size could be adapted for this application. Yeah, I know, a lot of requirements and ifs, but I'd still like it if possible. Could the Aimpoint T1 be adapted to work in this type of mounting system? |

I am in the same dilema. I have 2 options since I have a under folder. 1. Get the Larue system if and when it comes out .....or 2. Get the TWS Gen2 dog leg rail and a optic if and when it comes out. Well, you could always go the conventional route and get an ultimak, unless of course you're like me and just don't care for them. |

I was thinking about that too but I really would like to get the Gen2 rail that way I can mount the optic farther back. Ultimak would be my last resort if neither of these are released. |

Same exact thoughts here, although I do like the krebs rail. It doesn't cowitness and it is expensive, but it looks to be a quality piece and I really prefer the AR type aperture rear sight that they use. I'm ore of an iron sight guy anyway but my 45 year old eyes aren't what they used to be and the apertures work much better for me than the post and notch of the AK. I'm not planning an optic at this point anyway, but I figure as I get older my eyes may get to the point that the irons don't cut it anymore, so I'm thinking about maybe going the optic route at some point. So, for me, I'm not in a big rush to get one today. I'll just keep an eye on developments and decide between what is available when and if I decide to go the optic route. |

I have one on my MAK and like it. I do wish the FastFire had a manual brightness setting because under the right conditions it would be less than ideal, but irons are still usable so it's not a deal breaker. In RED
That dot can look HUGE sometimes... The battery life is not that good either... I know this is pricy but a T-1 or H-1 w/ a Larue QD =
Cowitness w/ an AK is over-rated... Speed is not......... 5 year battery life, very clear and adjustable dot and combat proven goes a long ways. Hell, if the optic goes out (maybe shot) it comes off in a second w/ the QD. |

Pricey combo for sure but of the current offerings it provides the best overall combination of features for my wants and needs. |
