I recently acquired another Arsenal SA-93 that has had the front of the barrel threaded for a muzzle nut. I have noticed that there is a very small chip in the chrome lining on one of the lands of the rifling on the very end of the muzzle. I can also see the circular impressions on the lands of the rifling inside the first inch or so of the barrel that were made by the die used to thread the end of it. The rest of the barrel/bore and the rest of the rifle itself is in excellent shape. I have shot it and although it shoots consistently to POI, it did take a bit of adjustment to get it sighted in causing the front sight to be slightly more over to the left than I would like. Because of this I am wondering if counter boring the muzzle would help to correct this problem. I am also wondering if it is possible to do this without causing any other issues such as more chipping of the chrome lining. I would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of having a chrome lined AK barrel counter bored and opinions on whether or not it would be worth doing this versus just living with it the way it is. Thanks in advance... |

Many AKs must have the front sight post to one side or the other of the centerline of the fsb in order to have the POA coincide with the POI.
It would hardly seem worth it to me to go to the trouble and expense you thinking about to try and correct that "problem". |

personally I think thats a bit anal. if you can line up the sights easy and hit your target consistantly is there any real problem?
alternitivly put the front sight post to where youd like to see it then either hold over your shots to get your POI where you want or get an windage adjustible rear sight. |
