| Besides the trade embargo and the fact that Castro and his cronies will never die. If Cuba ever did open up (or if we opened up to a Cuba that our government could accept), do you think there could be an influx of AK parts from that little island that's 90 miles from our shores? |

Quoted:
No, but there would probably be a huge influx of 57 Chevy's. Since they can't get any new American cars since 1960, they've somehow kept the old ones running. GARY N4KVE Cuba is to '57 Chevy's as Khyber Pass is to AK's, no joke. They've had to do some "creative" things to keep those cars on the road this long. |

I doubt it, but it would be pretty great if a manufacturer could purchase that old Soviet machinery and start producing US copies. If I ever won a big lottery jackpot, I know that is what I would be doing. AKs for pennies, and we could have all of the varieties of rifles and parts that can't be imported currently. No more having to shell out for rare original barrels.

Not buying parts kits. |

Never knew the Cubans "rolled their own" on Soviet tooling...
Does anyone have any pictures? Now THAT would be an exotic AK to get your hands on... Sounds like the Cuban made AK would be the closest you could get to the Soviet hardware at the time, in that kind of condition. I would imagine that they have seen much less action and passing around than most all from Soviet States |

Only problem with this is that Cuba don't build their own AK's, therefore no tooling to sell to us so we can build our own either. In 2011, Russia announced that they were going to help Cuba build a ammo plant to produce AK-47 ammo. Now, Venezuela does has an AK factory, we would have a better chance of getting that tooling after Chavez kicks the bucket. |
| I would be much more interested in Cuban cigars, along with the many thousands of 1911 pistols, M1 Rifles and M1 Carbines that we sent to prop up Batista before Castro took over. BTW, did you know that for a time we were supporting both Batista and Castro? That was before we found out Castro was a Communist. That whole deal was one of the most stupid episodes in US foreign policy, and it has continued to this day. Just drop the embargo and let nature take it's course, which eventually will result in free enterprise and democracy returning to Cuba. |

No their crap is so old and unserviceable plus everything they have they need they wouldn't start selling it unless that country magically got the money and the means to get updated weaponry. Plus there is no real gun Market they don't just have the stuff lying around. I think there would be an influx of Cubans, but that's about it. |

I would think a lot of them would want to go back and be with their families with the communists gone. but i'm sure plenty would relish the opportunity to get out of there |
