I am a left hand shooter and I am curious about two things. Does anyone make an AK top cover that ejects to the left? And if so does anyone make a Galil type charging handle that works with it. I have a WASR 10 that I keep as a truck gun and an AMD 65 that is my eye catcher at my local range. I would like to conver my truck gun to a lefty if possible.

The top cover does not control ejection.  The bolt would have to be mirrored to get left side ejection.  Why do you want to do that anyways?  I shoot lefty and have no problems.

Not only would the bolt have to be backwards but also the front trunnion (basically the most important part of the receiver).

And the ejector tab.

There is a company that makes a left hand conversion but the name escapes me. Someone posted a video a little while ago about it.

EDIT: It's the AK Lightning Bolt. It's not exactly a conversion, and it doesn't address the ejection. It looks to me to be the best option for lefties.

Actually the bolt handle is in a good place for lefties as it is. They can change the mag & rack the bolt with their support hand as it is.

The Lightning Bolt was developed so that righties can do the same thing.

I stand corrected. I guess that's what I get for posting before thinking.

Don't worry about it. I often speak/post without thinking before hand.

Guys I appreciate the input and have been into AR's and HK products. I have owned AK's before but since seeing some of the builds some of you have has gotten me into them more. I saw some nice Arsenal's yesterday at the Raleigh gun show and now I see my next purchase. 5.45 x 39 to stand up against my Stag lefty. I am just going to have to play with it some more and get used to working the charging handle on my Romy and my AMD-65. The lLightening Bolt does look interesting though. Got a MI quadrail on the way for my Romy also. Thanks for the input.

it would be way better being left handed on an AK for the charging handle, they have mods for right handed shooters

The AK is extremely friendly for left handers without any modifications.
Operate the safety with the right thumb while suporting the rifle at the magazine.
Work the operating handle with the right hand. Change magazines with the right hand.

I am also a left handed shooter and an "AK guy" and the AK works very well for me as a lefty.

I used to shoot right handed (I am a righty) but I shoot lefty now because my left eye is far better than my right eye, and trust me, the AK works better for a left handed shooter in its stock form than it does a right handed shooter. Changing it would be a DOWNGRADE, not an upgrade for you.

Ejection is not an issue. AKs eject pretty far forward. The brass will not hit you. As others have said, switching the ejection port would require a mirrored top cover, receiver, trunnion, bolt, and carrier. Not gonna happen.
