I've never heard of DCI or Tapco, but someone is selling a DCI receiver ak with Tapco parts. Here is a picture. They want $450, is that a good price? How would this compare to a SAR-1?

DCI reciever bolt build with Tapco parts, Comes with 4 30rds mags filled with ammo. and 6 more boxes of ammo for a total of 240rds. $450.00 FTF

hard to say what it really is...looks like they were going for an AMD65 clone look, but the bbl isn't from and AMD-65...which means it could be a romanian kit with an AMD folder and muzzle break. It's also bolted together which some people don't really like. I'd contact the seller and ask more about it the kit that it was assembed with. I'm going to guess it's a romy with amd parts.
as far as Tapco goes, they make a lot of bolt-on plastic parts for AKs and the handguard is their galil handguard.
personally, I would rather buy the parts myself and put together the same gun for less money but that's just me. If it is a Romy based kit then the parts alone are worth probably: kit $125, receiver $55, folding stock $60-ish? and maybe another $50-75 worth of compliance parts.

Thanks for the info. I've never looked into building my own because I have no idea what to buy. Maybe I should learn.

oooOOOOooooooo a new convert
it's very easy to get started and doesn't have to cost that much money at all...well, until you start collecting lots of different kits
Check out the build it yourself forum here and on www.akforum.net lots of good info. They have links to videos over at the other site that show a build progress if you are interested.

I wouldn't buy someones screw build at that price when you could have a build done with rivets for not much more or pick up a factory rifle for that.  A SAR-1 could be found for $400.00 and is better in my opinion.  A co-worker just purchased a NIB SA-85 from another for $300.00.
