I remember someone who modifed the DPH Arms Beryl scope mount to use a peep sight mounted on the back of the rail. Does anyone else remember this? |

| dph does produce a standard beryl rail that has to be removed to clean the gun. they are in the process however of creating a new one that does not have to be removed, along the lines of the krebs. don't know a time line or a price. gilbertsguns.com has the standard rail in stock for $69.99 |
Our does not have to be removed to field stip the gun. We DO use the rear screw in the buttstock as the attachment point and that screw has to come out. Our next rail should have a williams style peep on it and a quick release on the back end. scott |

The screw is meant to only keep the "bounce" out of the rail due to the leaf spring so only snug it down to the point that it touches the block. As for our target date on the new rail.......I should have a sample to look at this week and if it is what I expect it to be, we should be shipping these within the next 30 days. Scott |
| Actually, Scott, I would line up for at least 2 of them, But only if can keep it close to the $100 mark. So, is there any idea as to how much this improved rail will cost?. Also, I think that you would have a very large(and all by yourself lonesome type) of market if you could come up with something that would replace one of the rear trunnion rivets with a through screw that a rail could hook onto for an AMD65 setup. FWIW. |

It looks simle enough but there are probably 12 different pieces that make up that mount. As you know the more piece you need....the more work it takes in the shop. We will keep it as low as we can but $100 is going to be tough if not impossible. Scott |

Thanks alot for the first look. I have seen that same style mount before. Your mount looks like an improvement. good job edit: found it, its Polish and saw a guy selling his for $170 shipped from poland. LINK I think i'll wait on ya'lls'. |
Does this rail require the small spring that holds the rear sight in to still be used? I ordered the rail & already took the rear sight off which wasnt a fun experience  I tried to put the rear sight back on but that spring is so stiff I cant do it, now Im worried whether or not I'll be able to install the rail.

i would like to know if that handguard is a American made part as there is a need for one of them.. on the rail i see that it has promise just keep a fair price on your items and you should sell a bunch of them . i would like to buy a demo as i need to cut it up to make a mount for my folder  TS2

The quad rail is US made. It will be more expensive than the "import" versions but as you said, there is a need for a US made version. As for the scope rail, this version does not require the rear site to be removed. It isnt too hard to put the site or the rail on the gun. It helps to have a small screw driver and a third hand to hold the rifle also helps. scott |

I should have a couple of the first run in my hands next week. What we have decided to do is offer the rail in different versions....... One will have all the bells and whistles like the original Beryl rail. In an effort to try and keep the cost down for those who like the style but want to save a little, we are also going to make it without the quick detach and use a screw just like the current version but it will still have the original Beryl style to it. I'll post pics of the final version as soon as I get it in. scott |

scott, I had a wonderful idea today. for those with foldable stocks could you modify your design to have two tabs that would drop down on each side of the reciever. at the bottom of the tabs, would be a hole. it would be secured to the reciever via chicago style screw in place of the rear most rivet? |

why not just replace the entire top cover already with a this flip mount and get rid of the stamped piece altogether? I dont think it would take much to add a little more metal to the bottom of the mount to cover the action/bolt. You must already make the cover to fit a variety of AKs so I dont see the interchangeability to that much of an issue. |

We will have the original style mounts back in stock this week. As for the new design, here is the scoop. We spent 3 months on our original mount, time is money and we worked really hard to keep the cost down as best that we could. Once they were ready, we sent some out as samples to some of the "larger" companies to guage just how much interest there may be in getting these into some catalogs. There was lots of interest and we felt that we had a great chance of getting some distribution going on them. We tooled up and order material to make large runs of them. We made them and they have sold VERY well for us. Once we started contacting companies about getting them into their catalogs, we found out that there was another company out there making the same type of mount. After some research we found out that one of the mounts that we sent out as a sampe had been used as a model to make molds with and that there was another company out there making/copying our mount. Now it sure was eaisier for them to just copy ours and not have the expense of R&D and prototyping. That is why we are being so cautious about releasing this new design. We are looking at cutting as much cost out of it as we can so that hopefully this time around it wont be so attractive for someone else to just knock it off once it is released. So for now bear with us and let us get everything worked out. Scott |
If you are referring to the Beryl mount, it won't. Yugos lack the tang necessary to anchor the rear of the mount. Too bad really, I'd love to put one on one of my M70s. |
