My son came into an older ban-era AK (Eastern European, not Chinese) before the current craziness, and has decided to do some upgrades. It has a bare muzzle with no threads, which I guess were removed. Does anyone make a clamp-on or even weld-on muzzle device for these? Not looking for anything fancy, just a plain slant brake would do.

Yes there is one that attaches by means of four hex wrench screws. Check Midwayusa.com for it.

This. Be advised though, that it will leave marks on your barrel from the screws. Other than looking kind of shitty, it will loosen up as you fire. Get the barrel threaded if at all possible.

Measure the barrel diameter and do it right by threading, it isn't all that hard.

I agree. Get the barrel diameter and order the parts to thread from cncwarrior.com. Best prices i've found for a one stop shop. Several videos on Youtube on how to do it. I did one.. easy. Does the front sight block have the pin hole to  hold on the brake? You can order the pin and spring as well. That might take a little work as one of the FSB pins holds the detent pin in place.
