Went and bought my second AK yesterday.  Really didn't need it, but they are such fun rifles, and you can't beat the value!!!  I think I have as much fun refinishing them, as I do shooting them.

This one was a WASR-10 that came with the Dragnov stock, the regular stock and pistol grip, and 2- 30 rounders. Straight sights and gas block. Gave $340 for it at a local shop.  Don't think that was to bad. I had planned on buying one from Classic Arms for $290, but by the time you pay fees and shipping, it doesn't make it such a great value.  I also like looking at it BEFORE I buy it!

First thing I did when I got home was to completely take that thing apart and start to work.  It's out in the workshop now with its new color drying on it. Used Minwax "Red Oak" stain and will follow up with spar varnish.  Really makes them look go.  Degreased all the metal, and went back with black engine paint.  Can't wait to finish so we can go to the range.

Congratulations! Yes they can be quite addicting. They are cheap fun, easy to modify and work on with a modicum of tools. Ammo is cheap! Plus the steel case makes for easy clean-up, all you need is a magnet. I've got two now with two more on the way. You need to catch up!

I guess we all probably need to buy more.  At least the ones of us who have common sense. I have 4 AR's, and now the 2 AK's.  Loading up on ammo and mags to.  With the political climate the way it is, I really don't mind going out on a limb to get these now. I got caught with only one at the beginning of the last ban.

I also have a Cetme rifle, and for another $300, I may have to get one more of these. Hope I will have the same luck as with the first.  It has been perfect out of the box.

I hope and pray the people of this country elect officals that will keep us free.  My great uncle who passed away 3 years ago, was in the first wave attack on Normandy. I remember when I was young, going rabbit hunting with him and hearing stories about the war, and why it was fought. He also talked about the right to protect oneself and family. He would turn over in his grave at the sight of Kerryand Edwards.

Oh well, sorry for the policital spill.  Sometimes you just get aggravated!
