What's the main difference between say a aim sports/utg/ncstar type quad rail versus a midwest industries? I'm leaning towards MI. Is it the aluminum used and quality control? And what kind if aluminum do the Chinese type rails use? Thanks in advance!

MI is made in the U.S.  The other ones you mention are made in china, and in my experience the aluminum can be a bit soft- have seen screws strip out of them before.  I do not know what grade of aluminum the chinese ones are made of, but it does not appear to be 6061-T6, mabye just 6061 without the T6 hardening or even a "lower" grade of aluminum that is easier and cheaper to extrude.

Go with the MI, it is a quality product.

MI may impact your accuracy. I use this: modular rail - great US made product and their rail system kick ass!

I had the MI and  accuracy was affected for sure. Shots opened up quite a bit even at 25 yards......installed a Ultimak tube and shots tightened right back up, plus co-witness with my primary arms red dot was so much better.

after trying multiple setups, Ultimak and K-var handguard with 7 slot Magpul rail installed wins in accuracy, fit, sight / dot co-witness,  and quality........and the whole setup is less then $100

How does the MI rails affect accuracy?

its said to be due to the way it clamps to the barrel / gas tube, limiting flex and throwing off harmonics.......Although there is no 100% guarantee of this, many have experienced their shot groups opening up wider

I experienced such phenomenon.......I was disappointed as I just had gotten my MI rail cerakoted, got hydro dipped Magpul XTM rail covers for the sides of it that matched my rifle color scheme and liked the modern tactical look it gave......but.... it noticeably affected my accuracy to the point that I decided I needed to sacrifice the cosmetic stuff I loved about it for function.. I then went with the tried and trusted Ultimak tube and the rifle was back to shooting great. Only thing i still desired the MI rail gave me was the bottom rail for my vertical grip, which was fixed for $7 and 5 min with the magpul universal rail installed on my K-var handguard.  As i previously stated, the co-witness on the Ultimak is MUCH better then the MI as well

The UTG rail will work fine if all you want to mount is a forward grip and light but if you want to mount an optic the ultimak it's your best option.

I had my MI rail mounted for exactly one range trip. My average groups with the SAM7 opened up by about 2" at 100 yards. Heat was not an issue but the whole set up felt bulky.

Going with the m7-b on my draco SBR project.

Have yet to decide which handguard I'll go with.

Never had any problem out of my UTG rail running an Aimpoint M2 with a QD knock-off of an ARMS mount.

Damn you guys are too slow lol. I just received my mi in the mail today haven't put it on yet. I have an mi side mount on another rifle that is good quality and i went with the quad rail from mi on a new rifle. Next rifle though will be ultimak for sure heard enough good things about them. The mi side mount is fantastic because it sits so low on the top cover. Just hoping this quad rail is half way decent. Was going to mount a comp m2 but now I'm think I will put my trs-25oin the quad and see how that works. Never really trusted the trs on a 7.62 though.
