Just finished my first (working) build and applied Duracoat last night. Used my compressor and air gun. It says you can assemble it in 24hrs. How long do you guys wait before you start shooting. Also, I applied about three coats, but am concerned that may not be enough. Any advice on applying Duracoat, how many coats to apply, time frames before assembling shooting, mixing hardener and paint etc? THX |

You are going to hate me (for now)... DO NOT touch those parts for one week. FORGET the "assemble in 24 hours" garbage... you will mar your finish unless you are VERY careful. Let the parts sit for a week at room temp (about 70F), and DuraCoat will cure ROCK hard. THEN assemble. |
Thanks for the heads up! Would heating increase the speed? |
According to Lauer heating will speed up the initial curing (first 24 hrs) but not the "proper" long term curing. Everybody keeps saying wait at least a week before assembling so that's what I did too, just to be on the safe side. |

Probably too direct a statement... but heating is worthless :) Regardless of what Laure says - paint, then wait a week. You will be much happier :) I followed their "instructions" on my first DuraCoat job - then I followed my instincts, let the paint cure properly, and got GOOD results :) |
