I am almost done with my first AK build ever!  All I need to do is put in the mag catch and Im done.  However!  I am making it semi-auto and not full auto, so I bought one of the retaining plates, and when I went to put it in,  I couldnt.  From the begining I had problems with the fire controll group,  I have to put the hammer then the selector lever, after that I could put the trigger in.  On most sites I've seen it says to drop the hammer, trigger in and then put the selector lever in.  So I am unable to use the retaining plate, because of the way it is designed (you have to put the seletor lever in last).  I was thinking of using "e-clips"  from a local hardware store,  these would probably work to hold in the pins.  Also when I put it on safe, with "some"  force  I can pull the trigger.

Any thoughts on this would help.   This build has been fun as hell,  much more enjoyable to build than the AR,  that thing was like skill level 1 "snap together" model compair the the AK.

Dump the retaining plate, the wire retainer works just fine.  You CAN modify your selector lever, but each selector is different and I don't know which models you have.  I know how to do it on the AMD and Romy kits, but then each US FCG is different as well.  It's a mess... just dump the retainer plate and use the one Kalashnikov intended.
