A few weeks ago a good friend who was looking to get into his first Ar(finally) and I talked him into possibly selling me his WASR10 with 4 mags (2 plastic, one 30rnd steel one 40rnd steel).
It seems like out of our group, I've always been the most hesitant to make the AK plunge (I'm an AR guy by nature) but if my buddy would sell his at a good price I might finally take the leap. So he offered it to me for $300 and he included a bunch of extra crap he installed to try to make an AK an AR basically (AR15 stock, saw grip, galil handguard and plastic mags). So I took the deal and sold all the extra plastic crap for $60 on the EE and traded the one 40rnd steel mag for two steel 30rnd mags from another buddy. I went ahead and bought a G2 trigger and a wood pistol grip and my buddy (AR15.com member:halflife) stained all the wood and put a few coats of BLO on it. So I'm into the gun less than $300, have 3 mags to start out and it functions flawlessly to boot, I put about 200 rounds through her last week. I'm so glad my patience paid off, just thought I'd share my first AK with you all. Sorry for the camera pics.

Yeah, great price. Watch out though, The WASR 10 is sold with a US made pistol grip to comply with 922r (a really dumb federal law) which applies to non-us made high capacity rifles. You must maintain only a certain number (or fewer) foreign made parts on the rifle in order for it to be legal. It's incredibly easy to stay compliant, but I'm just warning you in case you swap any parts on it since you say you're new to the AK. Welcome to the club, now get outside, have some fun and shoot the piss out of that thing.

I was thinking the G2 trigger put me back to being legit but I might be wrong. |
