Nice AK. My first was a WASR 10 and I still love it. Some advice though... Hide you credit cards. AK syndrome is serious. LOL no good purchase though I can promise you it won't be your last. I know it. I was looking to make some room in my safe for another. I decided to get a second safe so I don't have to worry about making room. |

Always been an AR guy but also always wanted an AK. Nothing special just a WASR 10/63. Date shows 1976, 2 30 round mags and a bayonet included. I like the wood furniture and will most likely stay with it but am thinking about re-finishing it. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff294/jmannb8/2012-09-28_18-51-18_494.jpg Congrats! I had success with red mahogany Watco Danish oil. Follow directions over the course of a couple to threee days. I like it way better than the over-the-top shiny poly finishes that can melt around the handguards. Makes that wood hard as a rock and looks great. |

I was looking for that red Russian look. I looked at the TimberSmith stock set but the red looks off to me in the pics. Minwax sounds like the way to go. Thanks |

Thanks yup and if you want a darker color, dont wipe the stain off just coat it evenly and let it dry naturally before putting shellac on, like i said there was a guy on here that knows much more than i do and told me how to do it, he incorporated pine tar also though. looked the best and closest ive seen to the soviet look. i think his name was Sinatra on here |

Mine was a 10/63. Shot the snot out of it. So much so I bought another recently. My 2 shoot great & are every bit the AK the others are. Honestly I see no reason for me to buy something more expensive. I have shot some of the more expensive AK's & functionality there's zero difference. Refinish the wood, touch up some rough spots with some bluing from brownells, & they look every bit = to the expensive ones.
