Well here it is, my first 'evil' rifle.  After the input I got from everyone I decided to go ahead and pick it up for $150.  I picked up a few single stack 10 rounders too.  Anyone know where I can pick up some more single stacks?  Do they make higher mags than 10 for single stacks?

Also, I want to add a pistol grip and different buttstock.  Where can I pick these up and about what's the cost?  As well, will I have to go through and attempt to identify how many US parts I have?  Being my first ak I have no clue where to find if it's import or not.

I never seen a single stack mag higher then 10 rounds.  But I'am not sure on that.  To find some stock sets for your AK you can occasionaly check out the E.E. or you can also look on k-var.com.  Depending on what kind of stock set you want to buy the prices can range.  I'am guessing this is your first AK.  It's a FUN gun, you'll enjoy it alot.

Congrats.....

no, you're going to be stuck with a 10 rnd capacity if you keep it low cap. i dont know the state laws for your area, but if you are allowed to, i would convert that sucker to high cap and put on a pistol grip. your rear is easy to do that to, just take off the old, put in a new buttstock and a PG.  since you want to, i'm assuming you do know the laws or whatever for the state. i have no idea what the US made parts are on your gun. Personally, since you are going to have to replace two parts of the furniture anyway, i would pick up a full set(either wood from ironwooddesigns.com or synth from kvar.com) and switch it all out. that counts for 3 of the parts right there. only need two more, you could replace the FCG. i would count on spending around 70-100 to replace all the furniture and 30 for the FCG.

the parts that are US made should be labeled, or i would replace them just to be safe. the firing control group is 3 parts and is cheap. easy to replace and get some parts count. check for a g2 on the trigger. i dont expect it. but who knows. also check for a small C stamped onto things.

congrats, go shoot it till it smokes.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Now....to re-install a nutsack on that badboy:

1. convert to hi cap and toss those 10 rounders in the trash...It's EASY...

2. toss the drag stock in the same can as the 10 rounders and get a pistol grip and standard buttstock

3. buy 1000 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 and some hi-cap mags

4. find a field with an old refrigerator and.....................................

OH and I forgot....post some pics of your "evil one" after you smoke the handguards bumping that old refrigerator into the afterlife!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a picture of the "twins".  I decided what the heck, might as well buy a High and Low cap.  Here's the picture of them.  After I hear back from the BATFE I might offload the low cap.  I got to take out the FCG this weekend and dremmel the disconnecter.  Damn trigger slap gets old FAST!

The trigger slap will go away if you cut all the tail off the disconnector and if you cut down a MM or so from the bottom of the dis where the spring goes.

But if you switch a disconector with a import you won't have any problems. But you will have to add a domestic part to replace that. (I changed the barrel)
