Hi im 14 and a proud gun owner of 4 guns. Please do not judge me by my age like others have on this forum.Anyways after buying my first AR-15 during the panic Ive shot it and love it but want a AK also. Ive been wanting the arsenal SGL 21-61 since ive got a job offer for the summer making up to $20 a hour and figure now is the time to get one.But the only problem is that the panic is still going on how long will it take for the panic to go away and where i can get one for a decent price.Or what is your opinion for a AK-47 under $1000.

I would suggest you learn to run the AR first, get as good as you can, take some classes from companies like Haley Strategic, Costa Ludus, or aAcademi. All rifles are overpriced right now so I would hold off. If you are committed Arsenals are nice but I would get a Krebs. Also our of curiosity how are you making $20 an hour over the summer.

My mom introduced me to a man who had a family owned lawn mowing buisness. He said i will start out at $8 then work my way up.

The panic won't go away until the proposed Gun Control legislation is (hopefully) voted down. It will probably be a while after that until supply and demand catches up. As for AK's under $1000, there are plenty of good variants out there. The SGL's are arguably the best AK's out there, but there is no need to be so set on one when there are many others out there. SGL's won't come cheap and it will take you a while to save up the $$$.

Run your AR and save as much money as you can.  You will soon find out that tail> guns and will need that money for a nice ride and vodka.

As a 17 year old and owner of a AR15 and AK74. I would save my money and buy optics and ammo, accessories for my AR. like I've made my AR15 into a national match Rifle for camp perry. I hope to build another AR this summer. BTW I don't think the price is going down anytime soon but i would say go for the SGL. I would stay away from the 5.45 do to trying to find ammo. I like my ar15 a lot better then my ak

Man, an I thought I was born to late to enjoy the hobby

Nice to see such a young guy enjoying the hobby.

At 14, don't work your life away to buy guns.  Just enjoy the AR for now and get proficient at it. Get the AK later on down the road.  The panic will not go away anytime soon.  The 08' panic took a year or two.  I was a little too young to care during the 94' ban though.

You can get an Arsenal 106FR for under a grand and it will shoot the same ammo as the AR. Good on you for having a job and being responsible. Keep your firearms locked up especially around young people your age. I used to walk down the street with my buddies all carrying shotguns in suburban Cincinnati as a youth. However you can't do that these days.

I love seeing the young guys shooting.

Advice here is solid.  Shoot the AR.  Buy ammo, keep shooting.

IMO, they both have their place.  I shoot my AR much better than my AK.  I've got a WASR that shoots great.  It's actually very accurate with a red-dot.

I read that this gun is built at the "Izhmash Factory in Russia". Then it says, "re-manufactured by Arsenal/FIME in Las Vegas".

http://www.rrcfirearms.com/pd-arsenal-sgl-21-61.cfm

Is the rebuilding a customization job or is this a process to make the gun "U.S. legal" or what?

They have to be imported as sporters, then 'remanufactured' by converting them back to the standard AK configuration and including the 6 US made parts for 922R compliance.
