| I wanted to know from those of us that have folders for their romy's. How do you like them? How does it shoot with it extended? Is it comfortable and does it have the same length of the original wood buttstocks that they originally came with or are they a bit longer. I was thinking about adding one to replace the wood that it came with. I was also thinking about changing the handguards to the Galil type. I would appreciate whatever feedback all of you can offer. Thanks!h.gif |

I have a Romy folder on my MAK-90. I like it, myself. It locks up bank-vault solid, folded or extended. I wouldn't hesitate to butt-stroke someone with it if I had to, it's that solid. As for length, I've never measured it but it feels about the same as the factory stock, maybe a shade shorter. Cheek weld isn't the greatest but is better than it looks like it would be from just looking at the stock. After I mounted the folder, I took the weapon out and put about 90 rounds through it (all I had with me). Believe it or not, the metal butt actually left a small, faint bruise on my shoulder, something I NEVER got from my SAR-1 or the MAK with the original thumbhole or the Fiberforce stock I replaced the thubmhole with. I plan on getting one of the pads K-Var sells to put over the butt, but that's a low priority right now. I don't have the Galil handguards so I can't comment on them. Hope the above answered your questions about the stock. For the $39.99 I paid for the stock (back before the ban expired), it was well worth it. I'd have to think about it for the $60.00-$70.00 they go for now but would probably still do it. If you can, see if you can actually handle a weapon with one mounted. This way, if you don't like it, you'll know before hand. Good luck. Bub |
| Thanks bub75. I am between putting a polymer stock set with the extended buttstock and placing a folder with a galil handguard on it. The costs are just about the same but I am more morried about practical uses. I know thaqt with the polymer buttstock set I won't have to worry but then I was thinkning what if I had a good folder? It also has it's practical uses too. Decisions decisions. |
