So my new Saiga 5.45 has a front sight AND gas block with pins only, i have removed the pins just to see how easy they come out and they aren't hard to remove at all. I am wondering if a bulgarian 24mm front sight block will be a direct swap in terms of the previous pin slots in the barrel lining up with the new front sight?

Not exactly, and you'll need slightly larger diameter pins.

much info about this on the Saiga forum. Some parts do fit. I need to press off on a hydraulic press on one and cut on the other.

I've done a ton of Saiga conversions and even written a tutorial. I'm on my phone, otherwise I woulld link it for you.

As for direct replacement, 99% of the ones I have done have been direct replacements and I have been able to reuse the same pins and pin holes with success. You should be good to go as long as you use a take off fsb.

Could you tell me what parts would be a direct replacement

From my experience, front site block and gas block have direct replacement parts. I always recommend doing the gas block, that way you can add a lower hand guard retainer too to complete the fro t end conversion. The 5.45 Saiga rifles had the slots on the barrel already cut out for the lower hg retainer. The 7.62 o es, especially earlier models did not. My approach has been to file out the nubs on the inside of the retainer and let it just slide over. I know the Galil factory is set up like that. Never had an issue with latteral movement either.

So I was able to get the front pin off the front sight block on my saiga 545 they are not dimpled just pinned. the rear pin i cannot get to budge and i dont want to mess anything up by beating on the pin. these are tough rifles so i have the rifle supported wear on the front sight is taking the bearing force. should i just hit it harder or what. will i damge the barrel but hitting this pin.

Damage anything; ya right these are aks..dumb question but I am new and I appriciate anyones time to help me.
