| I just picked up a WASR-10 and its in great shape with decent unfinished wood, a chrome lined bore, bayo lug and a threaded muzzle with a slant cut brake. My only issue is the front sight is canted to the right(from the muzzle end) about 3 degrees. I have read all the tutorial on how to fix it and it seems easy enough but once you get the pins out how the heck do you move the whole base over? I have soaked it in penetrating oil, heated it and tried to massage it over with a mallet and still no go. So is their another way of getting it to move that i'm missing? Thanks in advance |

These AK barrel parts are pressed on TIGHTLY at the factory, and aren't intended to move after assembly. First step is to get the barrel in a well-braced, no-bounce, no-move setup using wood blocks. If when you hit the front sight support, the barrel shifts or moves, the force will be dissipated and the sight support won't move. If needed, get a buddy to help hold it down. With the barrel well braced, leave enough room around the sight support to clear it, then use a soft face dead-blow hammer or a heavy hammer and a wood block to give the barrel a "bump". (Rubber mallets often have too much "bounce" to work well). Check it closely so it doesn't move too much. If it doesn't move, give it slightly harder bumps until it does move. Don't overdo It and hit so hard it moves too much, and don't hit near the top of the sight support to prevent bending the sight support instead of moving it. |
