I was at a local gun store about a week ago or so. I noticed a diffrent looking AK-47 hanging up on the wall. I asked to looks at it and the owner told me that it was a GSAD also known as a spiker is what he told me. It looked like a pretty nice AK. My question is what is one of these worth? It is NIB will 3 mags and all accessories, Thanks for any replys

Like this?

Looks like a quick google read from a previous ARFCOM thread says that they're some of the first civi-legal Chinese AKs the come to the US. If it's true, I'd try to make an offer if you're interested.

Yes that is the exact Ak. He is asking $1400 for it. Is it worth that much?

I concur on CGP2's assessment. They've gone for more, and for less. See if he will make you a cash out the door offer. Might save another $100, ya never know.

no IBTL, this guy isn't asking what his is worth to sell, at least that's what my understanding of the rule was....been wrong more than once though.

Values of preban Chicoms have risen and fallen, just like every other AK, but I would estimate the current value of a NIB spiker at $1300 - $1500, and a lightly used one at about $1200.
The underfolder version would go for a bit more due to rarity. I have a full stock Polytech spiker, and its one of my three favorite AK's
I say go for it, and try to get it for $1300 or $1350 OTD. Its definitely a rifle you could easily sell down the road, possibly for a $100 - $200 profit, even if its lightly used.

Thanks for all the replys. I went back today to see if he would take any less. He is firm on $1400. It has the box, sling and 3 mags in the wrapper still. I don't know if I shoudl pick this up or not.

They don't come up for sale often. I'd say get it, especially if it's complete with mags, accessories and box. If it comes with the sling shown a few posts up, I'd even buy it from you to offset some of your cost, LOL.

Yes it does come with the sling. Is there anything else that goes with it or just the sling and 3 mags? He hasn't brought out the box to show me whats in it yet. I agreee rarely see one of these for sale. I see way more polytech's and norinco's for sale.

A complete package will include 3 mags, cleaning kit, bottle, paperwork, sling. In terms of value, a GSAD is one of the desirable ones, close to a Polytech, but a Polytech will command more, particularly in similar configuration.

$1400 is a fair price.  I bid $1,300 on a very similar NIB GSAD last year (before the panic) on Gunbroker.  The winning bid on that auction wound up being $1,800.

I think that price was too high, but it did demonstrate that there are people out there willing to pay that price.

$1,400 isn't a bargain or anything, but I doubt you'll ever lose money on it either.

They'll have more value to a Californian, as most GSAD imports are considered "off-list" (depending on how they're stamped), so one of the few pre-89 AKs that can be tranferred freely in Cali.

Wow.....I'm shocked that Wicked Witch of the West, Diane Feinstein, let GSAD's slip through the cracks. She must be getting old..........
