For a gun you might actually use for home defense and so forth, the 7.62 terminal ballistics make more sense out of a barrel that short. I think that was more in regards to the bolt. The barrel is going to die faster being that short and running suppressed on full auto no matter what type of rifle it's on. But in the video he said "If that was a MK18 I'd be thinking about changing the bolt and barrel." Then the guy in the video said "This bolt and bolt carrier will last longer than the rifle." |

IIRC the exchange basically happened like this: 1. GT: These are my AK expert dudes who know about AK. I don't know shit compared to them. Guys tell me about wear and the barrel and so forth 2. Gun Smiths: Everything looks good a bit of erosion by the gas block, nothing big. Rifle is good to go. 3. GT: It's crazy the bolt is fine (apparently having zero appreciation for the difference between AR and AK bolts). Yeah the barrel is probably spent, which is fine. Replacing AK barrels is so much harder than AR. I want you guys to replace the barrel for me. 4. Gun Smiths: Look at him like this  (probably thinking to themselves- did this retard not hear a word we just said?) So it's a lot less absurd out of context. But the way the conversation went was full derp. |
