You can see that the helper spring is putting pressure on the trigger via the main spring in the picture below. If that pressure is increased like 250% I'm pretty sure the reset will be much nicer/noticeable and the first stage pull will be springy and won't be mushy

Well, I'm going to ruin your evening even more. I installed the new Geissele AK-X trigger in my milled receiver SAM-5. The reset on this trigger is worse than the one I sent back. I shouldn't have even bothered. The trigger actually gets stuck on occasion when it is supposed to reset.

I cycled it 100 times after installation, and it did improve some. I made sure nothing was interefering where the trigger and sear actuate on the rear pin. The rivet is not interfering with anything either. The safety works fine. It's the spring that resets the trigger. If you pull the trigger and immediately let off while cycling, it does fine. If you keep the trigger depressed while cycling the bolt carrier, it will reset very slowly (worse than the other one). Occasionally, the trigger becomes stuck. Perhaps shooting it some will help, but frankly, I have lost interest at this point. I re-installed the BAD trigger, which works great and resets just fine. I guess I can try it in another AK later, if I get around to it.

Sigh. This trigger gave me high hopes. Perhaps my milled receiver is the issue, but I don't have any issues with the ALG, LBE, BAD or Meridian Defense triggers I have tried. They all reset just fine in my SAM-5. The BAD has the take up I want (from a safety perspective) with a nice positive reset without giving me an old fashioned trigger slap.

And that's terrible to hear about the new trigger they sent you. I was really hoping it would be better so I can send mine in too

I hope Geissele read your post and find a fix cause I love their products and I run their triggers exclusively but this AK trigger is just terrible..
