| I know it's not an AK, but has anyone ever had bolt problems with Egyption 8mm hakims? Sometimes the bolt fails to cycle completly and i can't figure it out. I know this gun can be very finicky. Any suggestions on what might be causeing it??? |

Not every setting, but it seems kind of random. That's why i can't pin down what's happening. It doesn't happen all the time but it's frequent enough to warrant concern. I guess it could be a gas problem. Everyone always talks about how you can't use turk ammo because it's too hot, unless you file another notch for a gas stage but i've tested some turk on the lowest setting and the pressure wasn't too excessive. I really don't have a lot of knowledge about this gun, other than what i've surmised from tinkering with it and stuff i've read on forums. Why do you not want to use Romanian ammo in the Hakim? It's worked fairly well for me so far, yugo works a little better. Thanks for the reply! |

The Romanian might be your problem. The Romanian uses and oddball light 154 grain bullet where as most 8x57 Mauser ammo is loaded with 196-198 grain bullets. The lighter bullet would cause a drastically different pressure curve. Try some heavier bullets, I bet it cures it. |
| FIRST- Strip the gas system down... Check for an obstruction/restriction (milling/manufacturing burrs etc. Dead bugs etc who knows what you will find in a gas port of a rifle that old)in the gas port/gas block with a pipe cleaner or something. My point is that by doing this first, you will get a ground-up approach to the problem.. then, like others said, go through some ammo options and trials |
