Got a Hungarian AMD65, can I change the stock handguard lower to a poly lower handguard from K-var? The vertical grip has been driving me nuts.

I answered in discussions.

ETA-

The lower handguard will fit with minor modification. Something like the Tapco Galil style should fit without any modification.

It really is a piece of cake to get a standard one on there.

I had been thinking about the Hogue, I'll be interested in hearing what's involved in the swap and what the finished project looks like.  Please post a follow-up when you get done.

I'm on my 5th H/G setup ((1) stock, (2) Midwest Industries, (3) E. German, (4) Bulgarian AK74 wood and now (5) Arsenal Bulgarian plastic w/metal insert heat shield.  Now matched with Ultimak upper tube/handguard.  All lower H/Gs worked well, with minor dremel mods required for (3), (4) and (5).
